This is a very clean recording (no voices or words that can be made out) of a 737 in flight from inside the passenger cabin. We were seated directly behind the wing. It's just a great recording of what the sound level actually is inside a 737 at altitude. It's a surprisingly low rumble and a true white noise. Enjoy!. - christopher c. Courter.

After checking my mail i was walking back to the house and heard this plane approaching. I always carry my yamaha pocketrak and got it going just in time to catch this low flyover. It actually reminded me of a warplane flying over. I also left in the wind sounds that sort of sound like distant artillery. Please comment on what you will use it for. Thanks. :^).

The sound of an electric van operated by la poste in france (national mail service) in quiberon in august 2020. This e-van is obviously silent. One can spot the sound of a gravel stuck in one tire, louder than the engine itself. This was recorded on a tascam dr-05, 16bits 44. 1khz by me.

Car idles, then revs for no other reason but to make a noise. Can't remember what type of car it was, but it was blue and little flames came out of the exhaust. Tascam dr-22wl, internal mics, deadcat. 15hz high pass filter.

Autorickshaw: a field recording made in bangalore india, of a ride home in an autorickshaw. This was long before the days of electric autorickshaws (~year 2000), so the recording is the sound of the nasty, polluting-well-above-its-weight two-stroke petrol-engine variety. I was going home from a night out with with several friends spread out over three autorickshaws and sometimes you can hear the others in the recording. (the picture is not the actual autorickshaw in the recording, the photo is from pakistan. I didn't get a photo of the one in the recording, but you get the idea. ). Recorded on sony minidisc.

Early morning, crossing the bay of biscay in a force ten gale, the whole cabin (high up in the ship) creates a symphony of sounds. Engine noise in the background, plus a cacophony of different stresses on the woodwork and fittings of the cabin.

Took a ride on a historic steam engine in the lake district (england). This was recorded from inside the carriage while in transit. Some background talking but a lot of good mechanical clunking type sounds. .

Recording from inside the passenger space of the twin turboprop engines of a bombardier dash 8-300 aircraft while on the runway, during takeoff, and during the transition to cruise at altitude.

I was looking for an effect like this but i could not find it so i took the sound out of a youtube video, i mastered and here it is.

I like to put special attention into not only the sounds and rhythms used in my work, but also the shape of the tracks itself when looked at in an audio editor. I enjoy working with dc-offsetted sounds, as i believe that, although there is not much of a difference when listened to, they must be picked up differently somehow by the brain.

The roar of a industrial rooftop ventilator coming to life (starts at 00:10). It is a large and scary whirring, mechanical, grinding sound. Used in episode 10, "decoherence" of the genius-podcast audio drama, and used to be the sound of the thames flood gate being deployed.

This loop is a combination of various 'found sounds' one is a focke wulf 190 bmw engine sound dropped in pitch, a squeak from a universal joint on a suspension system and a loop of an industrial guillotine. Chopped looped tracked assembled and reverbed in roxio sound editor.

This is the first part of four sounds of a cessna 152. Here is the starting and the taxiing of the plane to the take-off runway (24 l). Taxiway and runway are grass. We can ear the gyroscope starting. Recorded on 2017/10/21 at the namur aero club with an olympus ls 100.

The entrance / exit of this parking garage is a slope, so drivers have to drive hard against it in order to reach the street level. Recorded with schoeps cmc6 mk41 into sound devices 633.

A sample from a quick flight that i took with a friend on september 8th, 2015. Audio was recorded with a zoom h5. You can hear the engine start, then we idle on the runway for a bit, and you'll hear us make a proper takeoff at about 13:30. After that it generally sounds the same. You'll hear when i crank the level down after takeoff, but you'll be able to easily compensate for it if you're serious about needing sustained flight noise for a small plane. The plane was a 1964 cessna 172e and were flying around vancouver, bc.

Created for fun to document the first test launch of the (fictional) falkon8 space rocket to take humanity to the rings of saturn. After the countdown the engines start. During liftoff, ground control engineers talk to the pilots to help keep the rocket on the right course. The launch crew and pilots are talking in a particular regional northeastern italian dialect. The mission launched from the san marco platform, italian "luigi broglio" space center. This helicopter sound design was created at fl studio, in the sytrus synthesizer. The sound consists of four layers. 1. Sine wave frequency of 44 hz. Simulates the low frequency noise of propeller blades. 2. White noise passed through the svf filter. Simulates the noise of propeller blades. 3. Saw wave. Simulates the sound of an engine. 4. The sine wave. Imitates a high-frequency whistle of the engine. Various modulations are applied to all waves through the envelopes of the synthesizer. Next, the signal on the mixer channel is processed by a multi-band exciter and equalizer. Then a signal was sent to two channels with delay processing. One of them imitates reflections. In the lower-middle frequency range. On the second in the upper-middle frequency range. As you approach the sound source, the volume parameters of the direct and reflected signals are automated, low pass filter, pan width and equalization of direct sound. The helicopter performs strange maneuvers, as if making constant circles during the approach to the listener. I did not seek to create the veracity of these maneuvers.

A unique sound i recorded in bangkok whilst standing on a floating pier waiting for a boat. The pier is made of metal and the sound produced is the empty steel pier rubbing against the pylons with each wave of the river. You can also hear a boat motor as a ferry pulls up to the pier. Recorded with a tascam dr-05.

This was recorded with my 9-year old for a phone app called tiddl. The app was developed to interrogate whether cats could be entertained with a phone app. The recording features torn and crumpled paper, little noises we use to attract our cat, casio. Also featured are: toilet flushing sounds, running water sounds, banter with my studio mate, and a heated exchange about engineering technique.
